Q:  I am using the Linux version of Ultrascale.  Are hot folders available on Linux, and how can I configure the usage of hot folders?

A:  Yes, hot folder functionality is available on our Linux version of Ultrascale.

There is a hotfolder config file on linux. It is set up as a sample and ready for usage. To enable it, you have to use these steps:

1. Run “nano /opt/Ecrion/Common/Ecrion/XFHotFolders.config”. You can use any text editor to edit the config.

2. Find the a:hotfolder element and change the enabled attribute to “true”.

3. Run “/etc/init.d/ultrascaled restart”.

Alternatively, you can copy and paste the following into “/opt/Ecrion/Common/Ecrion/XFHotFolders.config”:

<!-- START -->

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <a:automation xmlns:a="http://www.ecrion.com/automation/1.0">

                <a:hot-folder enabled="true" pattern="*.fo" input-folder="/opt/Ecrion/XFUltrascale/XML Samples/XSL-FO Test Suite/">

                                <task:root xmlns:task="http://www.ecrion.com/task/1.0">

                                                <task:global output-folder="/tmp/">

                                                                <task:xf-parameters output-format="1"/>

                                                </task:global>

                                </task:root>

                </a:hot-folder>

</a:automation>

<!-- END -->

Then restart the server “/etc/init.d/ultrascaled restart”.

After you enable it, the hotfolder will render all fo files from "/opt/Ecrion/XFUltrascale/XML Samples/XSL-FO Test Suite/ " to pdf and put the pdfs in "/tmp/".

Hello KEO,

To answer your questions appropriately:

1.  Yes this certainly is possible.  You can configure as many hot folders as you desire, and each can process DAL job files.

2.  To configure the hot folders for each, you can simply follow the steps listed above for each.

If you should have any comments, questions, or encounter any issues, please email support@ecrion.com with the details.
